About the Project

LRT – Phase 1 consists of two lines (the Red Line and the Blue Line) with a total length of 28.6 km, almost entirely elevated, with a small at-grade section at ground level. The system includes 20 stations, two of which are transfer stations, around which Transport-Oriented Development (TOD) urban planning activities will take place. Operations are expected to commence by the end of 2025.

  • The Red Line connects Seef District with Bahrain International Airport (BIA) and passes through seven intermediate stations: City Centre, Central Market/Al Farooq Junction, Bahrain Financial Harbour (BFH), Bahrain Bay, Sh. Isa Bin Salman Causeway, Muharraq/Busaiteen, and Airport Avenue. The length of this line is 11.3 km in each direction.
  • In addition, the Blue Line connects Juffair with the Education Area and passes through eleven intermediate stations: Al-Fateh/Grand Mosque, Al-Fateh Corniche, Diplomatic Area, BFH, Central Market/Al Farooq, Salmanyiah, Zinj, Tubli, Adhari, Salmabad, and ISA Town. The length of this line is 19.1 km in each direction.
